Wedding Budget Tips
Keep this Wedding budget tips list in mind as you begin your planning journey. You can economize and stay within an ideal budget. Surprisingly, a destination wedding might even cost you less, honeymoon included.
- Keep the Guest list intimate.
Your guest list should include your closest friends and family. This is the number one wedding budget tip in every case.
- Consider non-traditional wedding venues.
There are wonderful seaside restaurants, parks, gardens, historic homes, and beaches with little or no rental fees as opposed to wedding venues whose purpose is solely to host weddings.
- Host your wedding at a Private Estate.
Choosing a beautiful property estate or villa with ample garden spaces will save you the venue rental fees and any transfer fees. The timeline of your wedding day can have a few pauses so you can take a breath since you will be on-location for the ceremony, reception, and photography.
- Book your date within low-season
In Greece, May and October are the low season rates. June and September are middle season rates and naturally, July and August are the highest. You will save considerably on airfare and accommodations when you book low season.
- Avoid extra costs.
Be sure to discuss details with your planner or venue coordinator. Some traditional items automatically included may be unnecessary. For example: You may want to opt out of the white tablecloths and seat covers, especially for a boho design. This will save you on the linen rental fees. Be specific with the items included in the decor and design.
- Delegate to Friends and Family.
Their services can be the best wedding gift. Your officiant, designated driver for the minibus, and coordinator are some positions easily filled that will save you a bundle.
- Check wholesale costs.
When shopping, check with online wholesale companies instead of your retail shops. It is a guarantee that you will find many items at cost.
- Interview your vendors.
Before deciding on your vendors you should interview a couple to compare the cost range and services.
- Advice and consulting services.
For the bride who is brave, talented, and organized enough to venture into planning her destination wedding on her own, I do offer a small package called “Advice & Logistics”. You may be a frequent visitor and already have your special spot chosen with most of the planning done for a small and intimate wedding, however, you may need just a bit of advice and help with purchases, vendors, or transfers. If you are pointed in the right direction you will avoid extra costs.
- Menu & Bar
Consider having a shared sit-down menu as normally served in Greece. If you are hosting the wedding in a venue space that requires catering consider a buffet-style instead of sit-down. When negotiating for an open bar, request specific alcohol instead of a fully stocked bar. Also, keep the bar closed during dinner and offer a selection of refreshments, beer, wine, and water on the table.
with the right planning, you can have an amazing destination wedding without breaking the bank.
